Spending the summer at Rhodes offers students the chance to continue their academic journey, pursue research or internships, and stay connected to campus life. This webpage provides a clear overview of everything you need to know about Summer Housing for 2026 — from eligibility and locations to rates, how to apply, important deadlines, and move-in/move-out details.
Summer Housing Eligibility
Summer Housing is available to current Rhodes students who meet one of the following requirements:
- Enrolled in Rhodes summer term classes,
- Faculty-sponsored research on campus or in Memphis,
- An internship on campus or within the Memphis area
- Job (on campus or in Memphis not connected with Rhodes)
- International student (unable to travel home)
Summer Housing Location
- East Village B
- Parkway Hall.
Assignments are determined by the Office of Residence Life based on availability.
Summer Terms/Housing Options
Summer 1
- Students enrolled in summer courses for Term 1, or
- Students participating in groups, programs, and initiatives (including internships) that are sponsored by Rhodes College offices, faculty, and staff.
Summer Fellowship
- Summer Fellowship Term housing is only available for students participating in fellowships Rhodes College Faculty.
- Students residing in housing for the Summer Fellowship Term must follow up with their sponsoring faculty member to apply for the Summer Fellowship Term.
Full Term
- Students enrolled in summer courses for Full Term, or
- Students participating in groups, programs, and initiatives (including internships) that are sponsored by Rhodes College offices, faculty, and staff.
Summer Housing Costs
- Residency is not available outside of the established dates for Summer Term 1, Summer Fellowship Term, and Full Term.
- Housing fees will not be prorated if the student leaves before the term end date.
- Summer Housing Cancellation Fee – Students who cancel after 5 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, will be charged $350.

Applying for Summer Housing
- Individual students applying for Summer Housing (Term 1 or Full Term only)
- Student applications must be submitted through eRezLife.
- Summer Housing application deadline – 5 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026.
- Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Applications not submitted by the deadline will not be considered.
- Students participating in summer groups—including fellowships, programs, or initiatives sponsored by Rhodes College offices, faculty, or staff—must be submitted by the sponsoring office, department, or faculty/staff member.
Housing Placement
The Office of Residence Life determines summer assignments. Summer housing is not guaranteed and is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Students will be notified about their application status on Friday, April 24, 2026. Students approved for summer residency will receive their assignment the week of April 27 - May 1, 2026.
- Rooms will be filled to occupancy.
- Room swaps/changes (by preference) will not be available during summer housing.
- Students are responsible for reading all summer housing terms and conditions before electronically signing and submitting the application.
- Students in summer housing must follow all Rhodes College policies.
Moving into Summer Housing
Move-In (All Terms): Monday, May 18, 2026, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Office of Residence Life)
- NOTE: The Physical Plant staff will require adequate time to clean and address any facilities concerns in the residence halls between Spring and Summer occupancy. This may impactmove-in dates.
- Students may request transition housing while waiting for their summer residence hall assignment (remaining in their Spring housing assignment until the summer assignments are ready).
- Students must receive written approval from the Office of Residence Life to remain in transition housing.
- Students who will transition to summer housing will be charged $75.00 per night for transition housing.
- Summer Transition Housing will begin Sunday, May 10th
- Students who are found in housing without approval will be charged $250.00 per night after the last day of Spring Check-Out. If the student was assigned housing for the summer, their assignment will be administratively canceled.
Move-Out Dates:
- Summer Term 1 (5 Weeks) - June 28, 2026
- Summer Fellowship Term (8 Weeks) - July 19, 2026
- Full Term (11 Weeks) - August 7, 2026
Storage
Residents are prohibited from storing their belongings on campus without being approved for residency (e.g., this also includes storing belongings in another student’s room). If the item(s) is not removed by the student’s move-out date, it will be removed, and the student will be charged.
