Pay close attention to Cardon Monoxide poisoning from heaters or motor exhaust fumes. Cardon Monoxide gas is odorless and colorless.
Again, dress in layers, limit skin exposure, and time spent outside.
Frozen pipes are also common during extended periods of temperature below freezing. Drip faucets and open cabinet door to allow heat to reach the pipes. If you’re on campus and discover a water leak call Campus Safety immediately.

The National Weather Service in Memphis, TN has issued a Special Weather Statement in effect for counties around the Memphis metro for this afternoon and late evening. We anticipate being open for business as usual tonight and tomorrow.

Saturday, November 1, 2025, at approximately 5:12 p.m., a vehicle (motorized scooter) was stolen from the street on University Ave. near the Refectory gate. This location is Rhodes College public property. The suspects fled west on Tutwiler St. abandoning the scooter near Barksdale Ave. The Memphis Police Department is actively working on the case. The suspects were driving a white 4-door Nissan Altima TN-BSW3314.

The Rhodes College Campus Safety Office learned that on Thursday, July 10, 2025, a residential burglary occurred in the 1900 block of Mignon Ave between 9:00 a.m. and noon. The location is about a half mile from campus. The Memphis Police Department is actively working on the case. There is no suspect information at this time. Information:
On Friday, May 23, 2025, Rhodes College sent a timely warning concerning a vehicle being stolen from the East Village C Lot at approximately 5:41 a.m. This vehicle has not been recovered. Additionally, it has been reported that one room in East Village B and two rooms in East Village C were burglarized prior to the vehicle theft. The keys to the vehicle reported stolen were taken from one of the East Village C rooms. All property taken from the East Village B burglary has been recovered.
A person of interest has been identified. With the help of the Memphis Police Department, an arrest warrant has been issued for the suspected perpetrator. The attached photo is of the suspected person. If you see him, please do not approach. Instead, contact Campus Safety immediately at 901-843-3880.

Do not prop open any doors on campus and report non-functioning doors or gates immediately to Campus Safety.

I write to alert you to potential severe weather today, Tuesday, April 2, 2025. The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Watch until midnight for Shelby County. Also, be mindful of flooding during the next four days. Rain totals may reach 8-10 inches by Sunday.
In the event of a tornado warning, civil defense sirens will sound, and you are advised to take appropriate shelter immediately. You should immediately move to the lowest floor or most interior part of your building. Avoid exterior walls, windows and doors. Put as many walls as you can between you and the outside. Campus Safety received a report today that a vehicle was stolen on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from the 1900 block of North Parkway. This location, Parkway House Condos, is near the Rhodes College campus. Rhodes College also has reports that vehicles were entered in the Parkway Hall Lot. No vehicles were taken from Rhodes. Investigators with the Memphis Police Department are actively working on the case. There is no suspect information.
You should never confront suspects actively stealing or breaking into vehicles. If you see something concerning, contact Campus Safety or the Memphis Police Department’s non-emergency number immediately.
Rhodes provides free steering wheel locks 24/7. These can be signed out at Campus Safety, located at Spann #5.

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Memphis and surrounding areas from Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. CST to Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. CST.
