Interfaith Resources
Connecting on Campus: Interfaith Registered Student Organizations (RSOs)
An active and enriching spiritual life is vital to many Rhodes students. There are plenty of opportunities for students of different faiths, communities, and practices to grow in this area.
Catholic Student Association
The mission of Rhodes CSA is to provide opportunities of a spiritual nature through prayer, worship, and community; to provide fellowship, social activities, learning opportunities, and support for the membership; and to encourage service to others. The CSA at Rhodes hosts weekly on-campus Mass, Bible Studies, small groups, service opportunities, and much more.
Episcopal Church of Rhodes College
The mission of Episcopalian Church of Rhodes College is to create a welcoming space for fellowship and worship based in the Episcopal tradition. Learn more at Episcopal Diocese of West Tennessee.
Hillel of Rhodes College
Rhodes College Hillel enriches the lives of Jewish students at Rhodes so that they may enrich the Jewish people and the world. We envision a world where every student is inspired to make an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning, and Israel. As a pluralistic Jewish student organization, Rhodes Hillel strives to make this vision a reality at Rhodes College. As the leading authority on Jewish campus life, Hillel reaches, engages, and equips tomorrow’s leaders today. Rhodes Hillel is committed to providing a space on campus for Jewish students, faculty, and their peers to experience Jewish life, develop connections with other Jewish people on campus and in the community, and have a resource to continue their Jewish education. Visit Hillels of Memphis to learn more and get involved.
Memphis Wesley at Rhodes
Memphis Wesley at Rhodes is a diverse and inclusive faith community welcoming all students to engage in social justice, community service and involvement, and meeting other college students associated with our affiliated organization, Memphis Wesley, which also serves at the University of Memphis, Christian Brothers University, and Lemoyne-Owen College.
Muslim Students Association
The Muslim Students Association at Rhodes consists of students from various backgrounds who come together for their love of faith, service, and community. The MSA aims to unite Muslim and non-Muslim students alike by hosting social, educational, and service related events throughout the year. The MSA holds events not only to spread awareness to the broader Rhodes community about Islam, but also to connect with students in the Rhodes community through fun social events.
Reformed University Fellowship (RUF)
RUF is a Christian ministry at Rhodes College that gladly welcomes all Rhodes students regardless of personal or religious background. We welcome the "convinced" and the "unconvinced" and invite all students, no matter who they are or where they have come from, to RUF. We want RUF to be a place where students find fellowship with others, worship God, ask questions, serve others, and grow in their knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ and His work on their behalf. We meet for Large Group Worship at 8:30pm on Wednesdays in Hyde Hall and have small group Bible Studies throughout the week.
Rooted
Rooted is a group for Black Christian students. We gather weekly for Bible study and fellowship led by a student leader or local Black Christian leader.
Tuesday Fellowship
Tuesday Fellowship is an interdenominational ministry where students from all walks of life can find meaningful community. As an organization we seek to contribute in serving the greater Memphis area, develop students in leadership skills, and help people grow in their own personal spirituality. We meet on Tuesday nights at 8:00 pm in Hyde Hall, and would love for you to join us!
UKirk
UKirk is a nation-wide campus ministry affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA), but is not exclusively Presbyterian. We are an open and affirming ministry that welcomes all. We value questions, and encourage authentic conversation. We are a community that seeks to follow Christ, and share Christ's love. We gather for worship, discussion, and dinner weekly, take part in a spiritual retreat in the fall, and attend the Montreat College Conference in January. We also participate in service activities throughout the year, working alongside the wider Memphis community. UKirk Memphis includes Rhodes College and the University of Memphis.
Young Life College
Young Life College at Rhodes exists to offer Community, Adventure, and Significance. We do that through building authentic friendships, taking road trips, sharing meals, and having large groups gatherings as well as offering small groups. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, we want to help you take your next step towards Jesus. We can’t wait to meet you!

Meet the Chaplain

Rev. Beatrix Weil has served as the chaplain of Rhodes College since 2018. Chaplain Beatrix is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA) who is committed to serving all Rhodes College students—people from every religious tradition and people who do not claim a religious tradition.
Chaplain Beatrix attended the University of Notre Dame where she majored in Management Consulting and Psychology. After graduation, she attended Princeton Theological Seminary and graduated with the Master of Divinity degree and the Certificate in Theology, Women, and Gender in 2017. She was ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in July of the same year. Chaplain Beatrix has served at a hospital, a high school, religious organizations of various denominations, and three colleges. She is committed to extending hospitality to Rhodes College students of every background--religious and non-religious alike. Chaplain Beatrix is a “safe zone,” which means she is trained in supporting people of the LGBTQIA+ community. Students can visit Rhodes Presence to learn about upcoming events from the Office of the Chaplain. Chaplain Beatrix loves meeting with students! To make an appointment, email your availability to chaplain@rhodes.edu.
Chaplain Beatrix is not a “mandatory reporter” while acting in her confidential clergy capacity with current Rhodes college students and employees. Whether she is meeting with someone confidentially or not, she is required to report situations in which she has concerns about someone’s immediate safety. Rhodes College’s Title IX contact person is Inez Warner. Contact Ms. Warner if you experience or become aware of a situation involving gender-based or sex-based discrimination or assault. You can always reach out to Chaplain Beatrix in these situations as well.
