What Comes Next?
Once you've committed to coming to Rhodes, we have a number of programs for new students to help welcome you into our community.
Academic Lynx, our academic orientation program, offers both in-person and virtual options for students over late spring and summer. Students who have paid their enrollment deposit will receive additional details from Dr. Rashna Richards, Associate Provost.
Welcome Week takes place between first-year move-in day and the first day of fall classes. You will have the opportunity to meet other new students and learn more about campus, the surrounding community, and Memphis. During the week, you will also meet with your academic advisor to finalize your fall schedule. To get an idea of the social and academic events during Welcome Week, view the 2026 Welcome Week Schedule.
While it might be true that there’s no place like home, the Rhodes campus—with its cozy common rooms, stained-glass windows, and fireplaces all around—definitely works hard to come in a close second. You are required to live on campus for the first three years, but many students stay all four because they are living on the most beautiful campus in the nation. That’s hard to beat! For the most up-to-date information on living at Rhodes, including housing registration and move-in dates, visit our Residence Life pages.
Over the summer, every student attending Rhodes College must submit the required medical information and health forms and provide proof of comparable health insurance (with coverage in the Memphis, TN area) to the College before being permitted to enroll in classes. Detailed directions on how to submit your health forms can be found here.
Welcome to the Rhodes Family! Visit Parents and Families to learn more about special events throughout the year. You will also find helpful links to parent and family resources for supporting your student and an opportunity to become a parent volunteer for Rhodes.
One of Rhodes’ greatest assets is its location in Memphis, where the area code is 901. As a result, we often refer to our city as “the 901,” and we are glad you have chosen it. What does Memphis offer our you? As one of only a few liberal arts colleges in an urban environment, Rhodes has partnered with businesses and organizations across the 901 to create amazing fellowship and internship opportunities for you. Perched on the bluffs above the Mississippi River, Memphis has a unique culture steeped in good music, great food, and a vibrant creative community. Learn more at Discover Memphis!
