For general student concerns, Rhodes College has a C.A.R.E. (Concern, Assess, Response, and Evaluate) Team. This team convenes regularly to discuss concerning, disruptive, or threatening behaviors. The team is focused on early intervention and prevention of disruption amongst the community. The team seeks to provide support, guidance, other interventions, and/or referral to additional resources. The Dean of Students office can be contacted at 901-843-3815. Report a student concern.
For mental health concerns without an imminent safety risk/emergencies, the Student Counseling Center is open from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. To schedule an appointment during regular office hours, please call (901) 843-3128, come in, or visit rhodes.edu/studentcounselingcenter. Appointments are preferred, when possible, but walk-ins are welcome and will be seen as soon as possible. The Student Counseling Center is located in the Moore Moore Building, adjacent to the Refectory.
After Hours or Weekends: Any Rhodes student who requires urgent or emergency counseling services outside of regular office hours can call 1-855-850-4301.
Campus Safety is also available if you or someone you care about needs assistance or crisis counseling outside regular office hours: (901) 843-3333.
For medical concerns, the Student Health Center is open Monday–Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (closed 12:00–1:00 p.m.). To schedule an appointment, call (901) 843-3895 or email health@rhodes.edu. The center is located in the Moore Building, adjacent to the Refectory. Students can receive care for common illnesses such as strep, flu, and ENT infections, as well as prescriptions and limited in-house lab work. Appointments are available from 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. and 1:00–3:45 p.m. There is no charge for office visits or in-house tests (Strep, COVID, Influenza, Mono, urinalysis, pregnancy). Vaccines and immunizations incur a fee billed to the student’s Rhodes account. Services requiring outside providers (e.g., blood work, X-rays, ultrasounds) are billed to the student’s health insurance, and students are responsible for any costs not covered.
For medical emergencies (e.g., loss of consciousness, cardiac arrest, seizure, head injury, serious fall or fractures, excessive bleeding), the victim or a bystander should first call 911 emergency response system. Campus Safety (901-843-3333) should be called immediately after 911.
For safety concerns/emergencies, Campus Safety can be contacted through a 24/7 communications desk that can be accessed by calling 901-843-3880.
