The World After Rhodes

Undergraduate study abroad is an important gateway to global postgraduate awards, service, and careers. Supported by the Rhodes Vision, our alumni pursue multiple paths into the broader world. For instance, Rhodes is a Fulbright Top Producing Institution, sending graduates abroad every year to teach English or conduct research through the US Fulbright Program. Our students have also won awards such as the Rhodes Scholarship, a highly prestigious grant which funds graduate study at the University of Oxford, and the Watson Fellowship, which covers a year of self-directed research on a multi-country project of their own making. The Postgraduate Scholarship Committee tirelessly advises students on these opportunities, coordinating the endorsement and application process, advising on projects, and more.

The transformative Peace Corps agency frequently recruits Rhodes alumni, with our shared commitment to community service and intercultural understanding providing graduates who are especially well-prepared for meaningful global impact. Our graduates also journey abroad to teach English as a foreign language, many of whom are already TEFL-certified by the time they graduate. These opportunities allow alumni to live internationally and launches them into valuable teaching and cross-cultural experiences that pay dividends in their careers and communities. The Rhodes Center for Career and Professional Development is the first place to go for international career planning, even from a student’s very first semester.

Whether you plan to pursue graduate work, service, research, or a career abroad, Rhodes supports your postgraduate plans with the same dedication that we have for your undergraduate experiences.  We are honored when our graduates reflect the Rhodes’ Vision by leading positive change in their communities and the world.
