Hello Lynx,
Congratulations on reaching the Fall Finale!
While studying and preparing for your forthcoming exams, be sure to take care of your health, and rest properly. I am confident you will excel. You got this!
Also, below are a few things that I want to be sure you are aware of as we move into the break period.
Please travel safe! Best wishes on finals and have a restful break!
Sincerely,
Alicia C. Golston, Ed.D.
Associate Vice President for Student Life & Dean of Students
All college administrative and academic offices are closed for Winter Recess from Saturday, December 20, 2025 to Sunday, January 4, 2026. During this time, email and voicemail inboxes are not monitored.
All offices reopen on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 8:30 a.m.
Residence Life
- 24-hour quiet hours begin in the residence halls on Saturday, December 6, at 10:00 p.m. Please be mindful of your peers studying in their rooms.
- The residence halls close for Winter Recess at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 14. You must leave for the recess 24 hours after your last final or by 10:00 a.m. on December 14, whichever comes first. Only residents approved to stay are able to remain on campus.
- Halls reopen on Sunday, January 11 at 9:00 a.m.
Please review and do things on the following list before checking out of your residence hall:
Before you leave for the Winter Recess, you must complete the Winter Recess Checkout form, in eRezLife. Completing this form needs to be the last thing you do before you leave for the break and by submitting the form, you are confirming that are no longer staying in your Residence Hall space for the break.
In order to properly check out of your Residence Hall, please review and complete all the items below. Failure to complete any of the below items may result in an improper checkout violation and subsequent charge.
- Wash and clean all dirty dishes to prevent the attraction of bugs and pests.
- Return ALL dishes to the Refectory.
- Clean individual and suited bathrooms.
- Collect personal items from laundry rooms and common areas.
- All trash and recyclables must be removed from your room/apartment and taken to the nearest dumpster.
- All electrical items must be unplugged.
- Mini refrigerators must be defrosted, unplugged, door left open and perishable food must be disposed of. We advise that you unplug your refrigerator a day or two before you leave, open the freezer, and place towels in the freezer. This will allow all the ice to melt. Leave the doors to the mini-fridge/freezer propped open. (If you are in East Village or Parkway, the large refrigerator may remain plugged in and on).
- Close and lock all windows and close all blinds.
- Turn down the heat in your room to 68° or low.
- Secure bicycles in your room or on a rack (Not in any other rooms or stairwells in the Residence Halls).
- Lock vehicles.
- Take home all plants, fish, and ESAs.
- Close and lock all doors in your unit (i.e. bedroom, unit, etc.).

Bookstore Hours and Rental Returns
All rental books are due Saturday, December 13, 2026 by 4 p.m. If they are not checked in, the rental account will be suspended, and a non-return charge and fee will be charged to the collateral card on file and/or house account for each book not returned. If mailing rentals back from home, they need to be shipped to 613 University St., Memphis, TN 38107, NOT 2000 North Parkway, Memphis, TN 38112.
Do not leave books for rental check-in in the lobby of the bookstore, or outside the bookstore. Books can be stolen or damaged. The bookstore does not have a way of knowing what books belong to whom, and leaving contact information in the book will not suffice. All transactions must be done in person. All books that have been rented from the bookstore must be returned to the bookstore – not the library. If there are any special requests for time/date accommodations to return rental books or sell books, call the bookstore immediately at (901) 843-3535 or email Betty Mohler at 0368mgr@follett.com. These special arrangements must be made before your departure and/or no later than Saturday, December 13.
