Health Graduate Certificates

Discover the Humanity Behind Health Care

The best health care leaders understand people and guide them through hard decisions. Rhodes College now offers two post-baccalaureate programs for future health care providers, public health professionals, and policy advocates who want to understand the human side of medicine. Both programs pair interdisciplinary academic work with real world experience.

Health and Society

Health is shaped by more than individual choices or clinical care. Where we live, available resources, and the policies that shape our communities all influence our health and well-being. The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Health & Society helps participants understand how social and economic inequalities contribute to health disparities. Through interdisciplinary coursework and a collaborative, one-year cohort experience, you will learn to identify health disparities, investigate their causes, and evaluate approaches to improving health. You will connect population health data with lived experiences, drawing on public health, policy analysis, and research methods.

Whether you are preparing for a career in healthcare or public health, considering graduate study, or seeking to broaden your understanding of health, this certificate will help you analyze evidence, evaluate policies, and translate findings into action.

Bioethics and Health Humanities

How do we understand another person’s experience of illness? What does it mean to provide ethical compassionate care?  The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Bioethics and Health Humanities is a 20-credit program that invites participants to explore health care beyond the basic sciences. Through interdisciplinary coursework and experiential learning, including bioethics training in Memphis, you will examine the stories people tell about illness and health, the histories and social conditions that shape health, and the questions of values, justice, and care that arise in clinical practice.

Whether you are taking a growth year before professional school or are already a health care professional, this certificate will help you connect clinical practice and science with the human experiences and ethical questions that shape care.
