Mezzo-soprano Dr. Courtney Jameson is a recent graduate from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. She is proficient in the classical operatic, oratorio, and art song repertoire and the ways in which they influence healthy vocal production. Though trained classically, she has a strong love for musical theater and for showing how both styles can intersect. In recent years, Dr. Jameson has also taught pop, jazz, and folk genres through her private studio.
Dr. Jameson was a Gerdine Young Artist at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis in 2017 & 2018 and returned in 2018 & 2019 to participate in workshops for Awakenings and Fire Shut Up In My Bones, which were commissioned by OTSL. Her highlighted opera credits include Laurene Powell Jobs (The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs), Bertarido (Rodelinda), Paula (Florencia en el Amazonas), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Angelina (La Cenerentola), and Dido (Dido and Aeneas). She also loves to engage with living composers and has premiered many solo vocal and choral works.
Her awards include First Place winner of the St. Louis District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (2020), First Place in the Artist Division of the National Opera Association's Carolyn Bailey and Dominick Argento Vocal Competition (2018), an Encouragement Award at the MONC Auditions at the Saint Louis District (2018), Second Place in the National Society of Arts and Letters Competition in the Indiana District (2018), and First Place at the Kentucky District of the MONC Auditions (2016).
