Choosing a Calculus Course

Rhodes offers three varieties of calculus: Applied Calculus (MATH 115), Business Calculus (MATH 116), and the traditional calculus sequence (MATH 112 + 122 + 223). The applied and business calculus courses are NOT appropriate for students planning on taking upper-level mathematics or majoring (or minoring) in a quantitative discipline; these students should plan on taking courses in the traditional calculus sequence.

For students taking the traditional calculus sequence, students who have previously taken a course in differential calculus (even if in high school, even without AP credit) should enroll in MATH 122. Students who have not taken a differential calculus course should enroll in MATH 112. Please note, MATH 115 and 116 are NOT sufficient prequisites for MATH 122 or other upper-level math courses.
