The Rhodes Music experience combines the best of the classroom, the practice room, and the real world through performing, internships, service, research and other opportunities in Memphis and beyond. Students can participate in all aspects of the music program while pursuing any major at Rhodes. The Department of Music is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). Students become skilled in the established musical community of Memphis. Our faculty consists of professional artists and first-rate researchers who are passionate and committed teachers.
Student Recital Information: Any applied music student planning to perform a recital must pass a recital hearing at least (4) weeks before the recital date. This is required whether or not that student is a music major or minor. The hearing panel will consist of the area coordinator and the studio instructor, and other faculty as appropriate.
The music degrees include a wide array of course offerings and the flexibility that ensures that you will receive a truly individual, personalized experience. It is possible to combine the music major with other majors and minors.
Please complete the Contact the Music Department form to request additional information from the Rhodes Department of Music.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Rhodes College Department of Music offers varied vocal and instrumental ensembles, which are open to all students: non-majors, majors, and minors. Four semesters of lessons and/or ensembles meets the College Foundation requirement [F5].
