Rhodes Department of Music Is Accredited By NASM 
The Rhodes College Department of Music is honored to have received important peer recognition, in being granted accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Music. Founded in 1924, NASM is an organization of schools, conservatories, colleges and universities with approximately 644 accredited institutional members. It establishes national standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials.

Rhodes Night at the Levitt Shell: NEA Jazz Master Charles Lloyd and the Rhodes Jazz Band

National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master Charles Lloyd and the Rhodes College Jazz Band will perform as part of Rhodes Night at the Levitt Shell in Overton Park on Oct. 3. Free and open to the public, the event begins at 6 p.m. and is sponsored by the college's Mike Curb Institute for Music, Memphis Center, and Urban Studies Program. The concert also will include a special appearance by Rhodes President William E. Troutt.

Prospective Students

The Rhodes Music experience combines the best of the classroom, the practice room, and the real world through performing, internships, service, research and other opportunities in Memphis and beyond. Students can participate in all aspects of the music program while pursuing any major at Rhodes. The Department of Music is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). Students become skilled in the established musical community of Memphis. Our faculty consists of professional artists and first-rate researchers who are passionate and committed teachers.

Recital Information

Student Recital Information: Any applied music student planning to perform a recital must pass a recital hearing at least (4) weeks before the recital date. This is required whether or not that student is a music major or minor. The hearing panel will consist of the area coordinator and the studio instructor, and other faculty as appropriate.

Degrees Offered

Rhodes College's music degrees include a wide array of course offerings and the flexibility that ensures that you will receive a truly individual, personalized experience. It is possible to combine the music major with other majors and minors.
