The Grants, Foundations and Stewardship staff support the grant-seeking activities of Rhodes’ faculty and staff. We provide a variety of services, including writing and editing grant proposals, maintaining a library of resource documents, and submission of federal grant applications as the college’s Authorized Organizational Representatives.
In addition, we assist faculty and staff with research on potential funding and finding opportunities to collaborate with campus and community partners for funding. Please keep us informed of your focus areas so we can make you aware of grant announcements that align with your work and research interests.
If you have already identified a specific grant opportunity you want to pursue, notify Lydia Spencer at least three weeks in advance. You must also complete the External Grant Approval Checklist - links to Box. This form collects information that relevant personnel require to understand your project, anticipate and advise on budget or institutional issues, and make the formal submission on your behalf. After you and your department chair have signed the checklist, you will scan it and email it to Lydia Spencer, along with appropriate attachments (e.g., abstract, proposal draft and budget). She will facilitate review and required approval by (1) the Provost, (2) the Vice President for Finance and Business Affairs, and (3) the Vice President for Development. All grants must have these approvals prior to submission.
Please do not contact any foundation directly without first discussing this with our staff. Rhodes has established relationships with many local, regional and national foundations. Multiple, competing and uncoordinated requests from Rhodes will diminish the likelihood of a successful grant submission for everyone.

Please call, e-mail or visit us in Dorothy C. King Hall on West Campus.
