History students gathered on September 6 for the second annual History Welcome Picnic. History majors, minors, and new students played games and enjoyed local Memphis cuisine provided by StickEm! Food Truck and MemPops. “The Department of History loves to get together,” noted Prof. Jeff Jackson, the department chair, “and the picnic is a great way to welcome everyone to campus.” Students and faculty met and talked about their common interests under the shade of the trees in Oak Alley. President Marjorie Hass and Dean Milton Moreland also joined the festivities. “The best part of this picnic,” Matthew Broussard ’20 said, “is seeing the excitement of new students as they talk about their first history course at Rhodes.” Just like last year, the picnic was an excellent opportunity to celebrate the students in the Rhodes history department.
