Student Accessibility Services, Residence Life, and Physical Plant work together to ensure that students with disabilities have equal access to the college’s housing resources. Students interested in requesting housing accommodations should contact Student Accessibility Services at 901-843-3885 to schedule an appointment and follow these application procedures. Students should register with SAS in a timely manner. Continuing students should begin this process by November 1 for spring housing or March 1 for fall housing. New students should begin this process by June 15 and are encouraged to contact SAS as soon as possible after committing to attend Rhodes. All requests are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Examples of housing accommodations include, but are not limited to:
- Wheelchair accessible room
- Access to kitchen
- Visual smoke alarm
- First-floor room
- Room with a suite bath
- Single room (Please note that single room requests are not granted solely on the basis of having a quiet place for study. With the number of people living in residence halls, shared facilities and shared resources, a single room does not necessarily provide a quieter, more distraction-limited space than a standard shared room.)
- Service animal or emotional support animal in the residence hall. Students requesting an emotional support animal accommodation must submit an Emotional Support Animal Verification Form.
Students with dietary restrictions and/or food allergies should contact the Director of Aramark Services to discuss their needs as they relate to their meal plan. Contact SAS for more information.
