Career Services is proud to sponsor and partner with several academic programs during the summer! Students selected for each program undergo an application process through the corresponding departments, and Careers assists them with finding internship and job opportunities related to their corresponding fields! Interested students should contact the departments involved or our office for more details.
Summer Service Fellowship (Career Services)
The Summer Service Fellowship is a fellowship program run directly by Career Services and Fellowship staff. Students choose a non-profit within the greater Memphis community, and spend the summer working as an intern with that non-profit. Students are also engaged in academic opportunities through programming offered by Careers staff, which includes visiting Memphis historical and community sites, engaging in discussion on topics like education, healthcare, and poverty, and have the chance to enhance their professional outlooks!
Summer Service Fellows apply through the Career Services office at the beginning of the Spring semester, and if chosen are paid for their service!
Washington D.C. Connection Program (Career Services, International Programs)
The Washington D.C. Connection Program allows for students who are interested in government and public sector work to gain real-time experience working and networking in Washington D.C.! Students spend a week working as an intern in different government bureaus in Washington D.C. while also exploring the city.
Mertie Buckman International Internship Program (International Studies)
The Mertie Buckman International Internship Program allows for six high-achieving International Studies majors to work as an intern abroad over the summer! Students are funded for their accommodations, work, and travel within the country/region of their choice for the summer! Past Mertie Buckman Interns have worked in Russia, South Africa, Argentina, Morocco, Jordan, Belgium, and elsewhere!
Eckels and Legg International Intern Program (Business and Economics)
Like the Mertie Buckman International Intern Program, the Eckels and Legg International Intern programs allow for high-achieving Business and Economics majors to work abroad in the country/region of their choice. Students are funded for their accommodations, work, and travel within their chosen area of work! Past Eckels/Legg Interns have worked in Ireland, China, Italy, Taiwan, Peru, and elsewhere!
