In 2001, Jeff Norris and his wife were expecting their first child when she announced she wanted to move “home” to Memphis. He now finds himself “at home” not only in Memphis but at Rhodes, where he has served in several different capacities in the past 15 years. With a degree in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas, he now holds the position of Director of Admission at Rhodes. “I never dreamed that I would end up where I am today. Fourteen years ago, my wife wanted to move back ‘home’ from Birmingham. Next thing I know, I am working in the office of an amazing institution that is situated on one of the country's most beautiful campuses.”
Jeff enjoys many of the benefits of living in the Bluff City, but none as much as Memphis’ world-famous barbecue. “It’s certainly not for the faint of heart, but I’m up to the challenge. Memphis barbecue is an experience all to its own—I’m just excited to have so many options.” While trying to eat at all of the 100+ barbecue restaurants in the city is certainly a time-consuming hobby, Jeff spends most of his time away from the office with his wife, Stephanie, their children, Lily Beth and Hutch, and their two dogs, Max and Molly. An avid disc-golfer, you can also find Jeff tossing discs at Memphis’ Shelby Farms, one of the largest urban parks in the country.
