Keith has been at Rhodes since Spring 2013, teaching courses in film studies and sections of the first-year writing seminar. His research focuses on film history, African American cinema, media industries, popular music, and the culture of sports. He is the author of Trying to Get Over: African American Directors After Blaxploitation, 1977-1986 (University of Texas Press, 2016) and has contributed chapters to anthologies relating to Sidney Poitier, Tyler Perry, Ice-T, the Indian diaspora, and sports documentaries as well as having his work appear in the journals Souls and Callaloo.
