Applying to Rhodes


Application procedures for prospective international students differ depending on whether students are applying to be degree-seeking students or exchange students.

Degree Seeking

Rhodes requires the Common Application and Supplement, a high school transcript, official score reports for the SAT or ACT and TOEFL or IELTS, a teacher recommendation  and a counselor report form. The application fee is waived for students who apply online.

International students are also required to submit the International Certification of Finances (PDF). If you are applying for need-based aid, complete the CSS PROFILE online and submit it to Rhodes College.

IB/AP Credit

Academic Profile of Our Students 

TOEFL and/or IELTS Requirement 
For students whose first language is not English, Rhodes requires official score reports for either the TOEFL or IELTS. The minimum score requirement on the Internet-based TOEFL is 85 with no subscore less than 20. The minimum score requirement on the IELTS is 7.0 with no subscore less than 6.5. Students do not need to submit both TOEFL and IELTS scores.

Sending Test Scores

Official results of the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) or The ACT and the Test of English As a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) must be submitted to the Rhodes Office of Admissions by the appropriate testing agency.

The TOEFL and IELTS exams are not required for native English-speaking students.

Exchange Students

Students whose universities have a formal exchange agreement with Rhodes should consult with their home coordinator for further information about applying to be an exchange student at Rhodes College. To apply, students must print the Exchange Student Application (PDF), fill it out, and submit it by mail to the Rhodes College Buckman Center for International Education by the deadlines listed above.
