John Weeden, assistant director of Rhodes’ Center for Outreach in the Development of the Arts (CODA), recently graduated from the Leadership Academy Fellows Program and received the Dean Deyo Award.

Named after Memphis businessman and the organization′s chair Dean Deyo, the award is presented to the Fellow who is deemed to have most benefited from and represents the topics taught by the academy.

“I′ve taken all their training and insights very seriously,” says Weeden. “It is their program material that now textures a great deal of the CODA students’ arts leadership curriculum.”

Weeden also has been busy orchestrating the “CODA Arts Leadership: New Directions Conference” to be held at Rhodes October 25. Sessions will focus on current issues facing the arts, local arts development strategies, and arts career planning resources.
