Memphis music producer and promoter Knox Phillips ′67, son of the late Sun Records founder Sam Phillips, was honored at the biannual Recording Academy Honors in Memphis Sept. 7.

It was staged by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS), the 50-year-old organization that oversees the Grammy awards. Phillips was instrumental in obtaining Memphis’ own NARAS chapter in 1973.

In addition to receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award, Phillips was also feted with a “Special Legacy Presentation” for his efforts on behalf of the local music community.
