Golf Digest ranked the country’s best colleges with NCAA men’s and women’s golf teams in their latest College Golf Guide, and Rhodes was touted for its quality academics and competitive golf programs.

In establishing the rankings, Golf Digest rated almost 800 men’s and more than 500 women’s Division I, II and III schools.

The rankings were designed to assist high school students who have hopes of playing golf in college find the best school for their needs. Golf Digest rated the schools in three ways: “Balanced, “Academics,” and “Golf First.”

Rhodes’ men’s golf team ranked #47 in the “Balanced” category. The “Balanced” ranking evaluates the opportunities the school affords the student both academically and athletically. The men’s team was the fourth highest ranked NCAA Division III team and the highest ranked team from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). The Women’s team ranked #146.

“I am extremely proud of our school and our golf program,” says Rhodes head men’s golf coach Bill Cochran. “To be ranked fourth in Division III, and in the Top 50, which includes all Division I and Division II schools, epitomizes the Rhodes story of quality academics and the opportunity to play in a fun competitive sports program.”

Rhodes’ men’s and women’s golf teams ranked #31 and #46, respectively, in the “Academics First” category, which was designed for students focused on education but still desire to play collegiate golf.

Rhodes’ men’s team was ranked #149 in the “Golf First” category, which was designed for students with dreams of playing golf professionally.

The College Golf Guide is featured in Golf Digest’s September issue.
