Rhodes Mock Trial Team Heads to Nationals
Publication Date: 4/2/2007
After months of preparation and competition, the Rhodes A Mock Trial Team will participate in the National Intercollegiate Mock Trial Tournament this April. This achievement gives Rhodes the longest unbroken string of national tournament appearances.
Rhodes has placed in the top ten in 16 of the last 20 national tournaments. Rhodes teams have also made it to the finals seven times and won the national championship on four separate occasions. Rhodes is also one of only three schools to have won consecutive national titles—a feat we have twice accomplished. The excellence of the individuals on the team is consistently recognized, as more than thirty of its members have won All-American awards given to students who excelled in their individual roles.
The team owes much of its success to its coach, Dr. Marcus Pohlmann. Professor Pohlmann of the Political Science department has coached the college’s Mock Trial teams for 21 years. He is currently president of the American Mock Trial Association.
