Rhodes Team Picks Up Mid-South Quality Cup for Improvements Benefiting Students

Publication Date: 2/5/2010

The trophy is on display in the Burrow Center for Student Opportunity.

The Design and Implementation Team-Student Services at Rhodes is the recipient of the Quality Cup Award presented by the Mid-South Quality and Productivity Center (MSQPC). This award honors organizational teams that make exceptional contributions to their employers’ quality improvement programs and exhibit “best practices.”
The team at Rhodes was recognized in the “Challenge Level” for addressing the structural, process-oriented, spatial and cultural issues to enhance the quality of service to students. Hoshin breakthrough planning tools, changes in management skills and focused training efforts uncovered specific disconnects in service delivery.

As a result of creating the Burrow Center for Student Opportunity as well as staff cross-training and collaboration, current and prospective students are now reaping the benefits.

The Mid-South Quality Award is co-sponsored by the Memphis Regional Chamber and Southwest Tennessee Community College. This year’s awards presentation was held February 3 at the Peabody Hotel. Judges included quality experts from the consulting industry and universities.
