The fourth annual Mid-South Chess Camp recently was held at Lausanne Collegiate School, and Rhodes College sponsored four students from Cypress Middle School--Jessie Bady, Adam Coleman, Mario Williams and Terrell Pullen. Cypress is one of Rhodes’ adopted schools.

The boys were introduced to chess through participation in Cypress Middle School’s Chess Club. During Chess Camp, they received advanced instruction under four experienced and well-known chess instructors, one of whom is Rhodes college student Jake Kleiman.

At the end of the week after playing in a USCF-rated tournament, Bady took first place in his division with Coleman taking second. The two will attend high school at Douglas and have expressed a desire to start a chess club at their new school.  At the camp, all four boys were presented with trophies for their accomplishments.
