Kaltner to Participate in Interfaith Dialogue in Spain

Dr. John Kaltner, associate professor of religious studies, has been invited to participate in the Interfaith Dialogue Conference in Madrid, Spain July 16-18. Hosted by the Muslim World League, the conference will bring together representatives from different faiths to discuss cooperation among societies with diverse beliefs and cultures.

Topics of discussion include the impact of dialogue on peaceful coexistence; religion and values in combating crime, drugs and corruption; religion and the stability of the family; the responsibility of humanity in protecting the environment; and the efforts of nations and international organizations in enhancing dialogue and confronting its obstacles.

At Rhodes, Kaltner teaches courses in the Bible, Islam, and Arabic and in the community, he speaks on the issue of interfaith dialogue among Jews, Christians, and Muslims. He is coauthor of What Do Our Neighbors Believe? Questions and Answers on Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
