Publication Date: 4/24/2008

Mike Hathorn, a senior Economics major from Pineville, La., recently presented his honors research at the Association of Private Enterprise Education′s annual conference in Las Vegas April 6-8.

His research, titled “The Rich Man′s Burden: An Insight into the Ethics of Capitalism and the Power of Ethical Ideology,” examines various defenses and critiques of capitalism through an ethical lens and then discusses in what ways these ethical theories manifest themselves in everyday life.

In March, Hathorn presented an earlier form of his research at the Public Choice Society′s annual meeting in San Antonio.

Hathorn was the sole undergraduate to present his work at the APEE conference and was also the sole undergraduate in attendance at the PCS meeting.  Both conferences were attended by notable professors and scholars from around the country.
