Hollywood Actor and Director Among Presenters at Macbeth Symposium

Harry Lennix

On January 25, Rhodes will host the “Shakespeare in Color” symposium. Among the presenters are Hollywood actor Harry J. Lennix and casting director Aleta Chappelle.

Lennix is both a stage and screen actor having recurring roles in the television series Commander in Chief and 24. He played Commander Lock in The Matrix series and Joe Adams in Ray. Among his Shakespearean credits are Aaron in Titus and the lead role in a recent African American production of Macbeth in Los Angeles. Lennix was part of the first American company to be invited to the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2001.

Aleta Chappelle is the director and writer of the forthcoming Macbett, an adaptation of Shakespeare’s play set on a Caribbean island, starring Harry J. Lennix, Terrence Howard, and Blair Underwood. She has over two decades of experience working in Hollywood, casting movies such as Drumline, The Nutty Professor, and Francis Ford Coppola’s Godfather III, and directing Goosed (starring Jennifer Tilly).
