This Year’s “Mr. and Ms. Rhodes” Selected

The student body selected Doug Lensing ’08 and Andrea Moore ’08 as this year’s “Mr. and Ms. Rhodes.”  They were recognized at halftime of the Homecoming football game.

Lensing is a political science major from Memphis, Tenn.  A 2004 graduate of White Station High School, Lensing is a Bonner Scholar and president of Rhodes Student Government.  He also serves as a student representative to the Rhodes Board of Trustees.  In 2006, he was selected as a delegate for Global Youth Connect’s Human Rights Delegation to Rwanda.  He has also worked with the Hollywood-Springdale Partnership to help raise funding for its community mentoring outreach services group.  In past summers, he has worked on political campaigns: Ed Stanton for U.S. Congress, Harold Ford Jr. for U.S. Senate and Karl Dean for Nashville Mayor.  Lensing also serves as philanthropy chair for his fraternity, Alpha Tau Omega.

Lensing is the son of David and Connie Lensing.  After graduation, he plans to work as an analyst in public finance before attending law school. 

Moore is a religious studies major from Cordova, Tenn. A 2004 graduate of Hutchinson School, Moore is vice president of Rhodes’ chapter of Theta Alpha Kappa, the national religious studies honor society.  She has also served as a peer assistant on the orientation staff and is currently the peer assistant intern.  She also is the co-leader of JUMPSTART new member programming and a member of the orientation advisory committee.  In the summer of 2006, Moore co-led an intercultural exchange program at Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Memphis, in which she taught English to high school students from Chengdu, China. She has also served as house manager and new member educator for her sorority, Delta Delta Delta. 

Moore is the daughter of Glenn and Linda Moore.  After graduation, she is to wed Daniel Jones ’06. She plans to teach high school English.
