Vocal Auditions to be Held for MasterSingers and Beale Canto

Rhodes MasterSingers Chorale, a semi-professional choral ensemble at Rhodes, will hold auditions for all voice parts for the Fall 2013 season. Open to the public, auditions will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Evergreen Presbyterian Church, 613 University Street (across from campus).

Contact Debbie Smith at smithd@rhodes.edu to schedule an audition time. Individuals should bring a prepared song in any language (memorization optional). An accompanist will be provided.

The Rhodes MasterSingers Chorale is made up of faculty, staff, students and choral alumni of Rhodes College and various music professionals. Dr. William Skoog is the conductor.

Rehearsals are on Tuesdays, 7 p.m.-9:15 p.m., at Evergreen Presbyterian Church and will begin Aug. 27. Performances are Benjamin Britten’s “War Requiem” on Nov. 3 and Handel’s “Messiah” on Dec. 6.

BealeCanto, a semi-professional men’s chamber ensemble sponsored by the Rhodes Department of Music, is holding auditions for new members on Sunday, Aug. 25, 6-8 p.m., also at Evergreen Presbyterian Church.

The auditions will consist of singing one piece of music with current members that will be provided in advance, and sight-reading one selection with the ensemble. Contact Dr. William Skoog, artistic director, at skoogw@rhodes.edu to schedule an audition appointment and to receive music.
