Thomas Harless ’15 recently was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army.
Rhodes participates in cross-town agreements with The University of Memphis and the Departments of the Army, Air Force, and Navy to provide Rhodes students the opportunity to enroll in ROTC.
A political science major, Harless attended Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, TN, and performed at Lincoln Center for the National Shakespeare Competition while there. He continued his interest in theatre at Rhodes by performing in McCoy Theatre productions and serving as an intern for the Chatterbox Auto Theater. He also was a Center for Outreach in the Development of the Arts (CODA) Fellow.
As a Cadet at Rhodes, Harless was on the University of Memphis Ranger Challenge Team, serving as Captain and Commander of the team. During his final semester, he served as the Cadet Battalion Executive Officer and organized the First Annual Gerold Blum Memorial 5K, bringing out over 300 runners and raising over $5,000 in its inaugural year.
After graduating from Rhodes, Harless will attend Field Artillery BOLC and serve as an Active Duty Army Officer.
