Third Annual Memphis Day is November 1st.

The Clarence Day Scholars are hosting the third-annual Memphis Day on Saturday, November 1, 2014, from 11 am to 4 pm. Live musical performances, photographs with Leroy the Lynx, food trucks, activities for children, community organization information tables, and an afternoon football game are among the highlights for what promises to be a great day at Rhodes College.  We hope to showcase the best of Memphis while simultaneously welcoming the community to the Rhodes campus for a day of food, friends, and fun. We would love to have as many community members as possible join us.  All activities are open to the public and free with the exception of the items purchased from three of Memphis’ finest food trucks, Stickem, Delish Desserts, and Mark’s Grill, and beer provided by a local brewery.

A number of organizations that engage Memphians at various levels will participate and it is this exposure that we believe would be beneficial to those attending.  A “Puppy Petting Zoo” will be offered from Sunny Meadows, a performance by Co-motion Studios, live music from local and Rhodes bands, as well as appearances and outreach programs from a variety of community organizations including Ballet Memphis, Memphis Repertory Orchestra, Latino Memphis, The Exceptional Foundation, Tennessee Shakespeare Company, Whole Foods, Opera Memphis, The Urban Child Institute, and more will have the effect of bringing the best of Memphis to Rhodes.

All activities will take place on the east side of the football field on the Rhodes campus.  Please be certain to stop by the Day Scholars information table where everyone receives a complimentary beverage and the first 500 guests receive free Memphis Day T-shirts.
