Rhodes College English major Samantha Smith ‘14 is one of only 20 students nationwide to be offered a writing internship with the national office of the Phi Beta Kappa Society in Washington, D.C. The internship period begins immediately and will continue through June 15, 2013. Smith will be asked to prepare a minimum of six publishable articles for Phi Beta Kappa′s new site for its publication, The Key Reporter. According to Dr. Kelly Gerald, editor of The Key Reporter, fewer than half of applicants were accepted, and Smith′s strong writing samples distinguished her among a competitive applicant pool.
