Rhodes Students Win Video Contest Sponsored by Associated Colleges of the South

Sophie Osella, a senior philosophy major, and Becca Martin, a junior anthropology/sociology major, are winners of a video competition that challenged students to create 4-10 minute videos documenting their school’s sustainability measures. The contest is sponsored by the Associated Colleges of the South, which is a consortium of 16 liberal arts colleges including Rhodes.

In recognition of their achievement, Osella and Martin will receive a first place cash prize. Their short film titled “Green Rhodes” discusses student efforts to combat climate change and encourage environmental sustainability at Rhodes. Highlights include the Rhodes College Bike Shop and student recycling crew as well as other Environmental Planning Cooperative programs. It also features an introduction by President William E. Troutt.
