Rhodes College is on the list of Best Value Colleges for 2014 released today by The Princeton Review with its companion book, The Best Value Colleges: The 150 Best-Buy Schools and What It Takes to Get In.
The education services company names 150 colleges –75 public and 75 private –on the list based on surveys of 2,000 undergraduate institutions in 2012-13 concerning their academics, cost and financial aid awards.
“We commend all of our Best Value Colleges for their outstanding academics. Equally impressive are their efforts to be affordable to students with need – either via comparatively low sticker prices, generous financial aid, or both,” says Robert Franek, Princeton Review’s senior vice president/publisher.
In the Rhodes profile provided by The Princeton Review, editors say, “This private liberal arts college encourages students to study as many different disciplines as possible in order to gain a broader understanding of the world . . . Students who put in the work can expect to succeed.” The editors also note that students value the college’s close, personalized environment where teachers are enthusiastic about helping students; the availability of scholarships and student employment; and the college’s location in a city with opportunities for recreation and community involvement.
