Prof. Scott Newstok Elected to Humanities Tennessee’s Board of Directors

Rhodes English Professor Scott Newstok has been elected to Humanities Tennessee’s Board of Directors. The term is through January 2019.
Founded in 1973, Humanities Tennessee is dedicated to promoting lifelong learning, civil discourse, and an appreciation of history, diversity, and community among Tennesseans. Its programs include the annual Southern Festival of Books, the Appalachian and Tennessee Young Writers’ Workshops and Chapter16.org, and many more.

At Rhodes, Newstok teaches widely across the humanities and coordinates the Pearce Shakespeare Endowment. He has recently served as faculty representative to the Rhodes Board of Trustees as well as president of Rhodes’ Phi Beta Kappa chapter, and is on the selection committee for the Christian Gauss Award for literary criticism.
