Rhodes Political Science Professor Dr. Michael Nelson has published an essay in the summer 2014 issue of the Claremont Review of Books, a literary publication written by leading scholars and critics. The essay is titled “Triumph and Tragedy.”
In the opening paragraph, Nelson writes, “Has any legislation ever had such immediate beneficial effects as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965—the former currently commemorating its golden anniversary and the latter on the cusp of its own?”
