Prof. Mark Behr Elected to Tennessee Justice Center’s Board of Directors

Rhodes English Professor Mark Behr has been elected to the Tennessee Justice Center’s (TJC) Board of Directors. The term is through June 30, 2018.

Founded in 1996, TJC is dedicated to protecting the rights of Tennesseans and has impacted thousands of families through work with health care, civil rights, welfare reform, and food and nutrition.

Behr, who also is a novelist, often writes works concerned with questions of identity within authoritarian and highly militarized societies. His work has received awards in Africa, Europe and the U.S. At Rhodes, Behr teaches courses in Fiction Writing, Post-Colonial Literature, Queer and Gender Theory, African Literature, Literature and War, and Contemporary World Literature.
