Prof. Hughes to Speak at Mid-South Book Festival

Dr. Charles Hughes, director of Rhodes’ Memphis Center, will be featured at the Mid-South Book Festival on Sept. 10 at Playhouse on the Square and Circuit Playhouse. He will discuss and sign copies of his book Country Soul: Making Music and Making Race in the American South, which was named one of the best music books of the year by Rolling Stone

Hughes has taught music history courses at Rhodes, including Elvis Presley and America and Music of the American South. His presentation at the book festival begins at 1 p.m. For more information visit http://www.midsouthbookfest.org/
