Rhodes senior Lauren Avant has been named to the D3hoops.com 2014 women′s All-Southern Region team and tabbed as the Player of the Year.
Avant led the Lynx to a 25-4 finish for the 2013-2014 campaign, tying a school record for best season record and most wins in a season. The Memphis native finished the season with a 25.6 points per game average, 7.3 rebounds per game, and 2.7 assists per contest.
Avant has rewritten the record books at Rhodes, setting new points in a season record (692), free throws made (180), points per game average (25.6), and became the newest member of the Rhodes 1,000 point club, finishing at No. 5 on the list with 1,373 total points.
