Rhodes students enrolled in  Prof. Ferron Thompson’s commerce and business course participated in the 2016 SaveFirst tax preparation initiative. They with other area college students were trained and IRS-certified to serve families at various tax sites in Memphis.

According to Impact America-Tennessee, which sponsors the program, “These volunteers served 837 families at Binghampton Development Corporation, Streets Ministries, Ed Rice Community Center, and Church Health Wellness Center, helping them to claim more than $1.5 million in refunds and save $330,000 in commercial tax preparation fees.”
