Thousands of Memphis residents are without health insurance and cannot afford health care. Where do they go when they are ill? How do they receive preventive care?

The Church Health Center has been offering health care to the uninsured working poor of Memphis since 1987. In its clinic and wellness center, the CHC strives to remedy illness and promote health and to care for both body and soul.

If you are interested in learning more about the relationship between social class and health outcomes, faith commitments and social action, or the challenges facing the working poor in Memphis, an internship at the Church Health Center may be right for you.

Interns work at the Church Health Center eight hours per week and meet as a group on a bi-weekly basis. Religious Studies 460 carries F11 credit.
