DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will coordinate activities of the President in key projects to gain visibility, financial support, student interest and other external programs and will assist as needed in working with the President's spouse in such endeavors when appropriate. This requires maintaining a list of activities for the President according to priority and his availability. Provides detailed briefings and determines “next steps," triggering, coordinating, and monitoring the work of others to assist in follow-up (letters, proposals, and contact reports). Directs the on-going development of the Parent Council including recruiting and managing the Parent Council group its campaigns, meetings and other development-related parent programs. Cultivates prospective donors; solicits restricted, capital, deferred and leadership annual gifts. This requires developing and maintaining favorable relationships with a portfolio of assigned prospects through one-on-one visits, developing strategy, designing solicitations and proposals and closing gifts. Requires extensive travel with occasional weekend and evening work.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required. A minimum of three years of development, external relations or relevant experience; evidence of superior communication and organization skills and an understanding of project management at an educational institution preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities, to solve problems and demonstrate leadership skills is required. Ability to relate well to the public is a must. Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
