West Village Update:
Progress continues at West Village Residence Hall. Flat roofs are now complete. Ice shield is installed on almost all of the sloped roofs. Slate is around 20% complete. Exterior rubble stone and limestone are almost completed, and steel window frames and stained glass windows are now installed. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-in work has been completed, and duct work and final piping are both well underway. Temporary heat is on in the buildings, and drywall is 90% done. Shower basins are set on the 2nd and 3rd floors; shower walls will begin soon. The elevator is under construction. A mock-up of a typical room will be available for review sometime in March. Completion date is on track for June.
As this exciting project continues, you need to be aware of some important information related to campus access.
• Fencing will surround the project site until its completion in summer 2012.
• The Bailey Lane gate has been converted to a construction entrance/exit. Access in and out of the campus will not be possible at this point throughout the duration of the project.
• For your convenience, a new 24/7 gate is staffed by Campus Safety on University at the gym parking lot. All pedestrian gates are accessible.
• As in the past, faculty, staff, and students may continue to use the North Parkway entrance/exit.
• Guests, visitors and prospective students should be encouraged to utilize the staffed Phillips Lane entrance during normal business hours and Saturdays.
Burrow Refectory Update:
The steel frame and plank decking are now complete. Flat roofs are also complete, and ice shield is on all sloped roof decks. Exterior rubble stone and limestone are halfway done. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-in is completed, and duct work and final piping are well underway. Temporary heat is now on in the building. Partition framing is underway. The emergency generator and electrical transformer are complete. Exhaust hood and walk-in cooler and freezer installation is underway. Completion date is on track for August.
