Friday, September 27th

7:30 am to 6:00 pm Starbucks is Open (Middle Ground, Barret Library)
8:00 am to 5:00 pm GlobeMed Silent Art Auction (Barret Library Breezeway)
GlobeMed at Rhodes, a student-led group striving to address health inequity in Nicaragua, is holding a Silent Art Auction to support its partner organization, AMOS. All proceeds from the auction will support community-identified primary healthcare initiatives in Nicaragua. Bidding will occur Friday and Saturday.  Winners may pick up their pieces on Saturday from 4pm-6pm.
8:30 am to 7:00 pm The Rhodes Bookstore is Open (Briggs Student Center) 
Check out the campus bookstore and use your coupon to purchase Rhodes items.
9:00 am to 5:00 pm Registration Table (Middle Ground, Barret Library)

9:00 am to 5:00 pm Attend Class with your Student(s)
This is your chance to be a student again.  Due to mitigating circumstances (test, exam, presentation, or limited space) some classes are closed to visitors. Please check the ′No-Visit′ list of classes.
10:00 am to 2:00 pm Rhodes College Ring Event (Rhodes Bookstore, Briggs Student Center) 
A Jostens representative will show you Rhodes class ring options and assist you in designing or ordering your ring at special discounts for Parent/Family Weekend.
11:00 am to 5:00 pm Art Exhibit: “Tom Lee: Sheer Delight” (Clough-Hanson Gallery, Clough Hall) 
As delicate as it is violent and containing as much of Tom Lee′s wit as it does his bite, "Sheer Delight" both comforts and confronts. Lee presents an entirely new body of work, deftly crafted with the particulars of Clough-Hanson Gallery in mind. When confronted by the floor to ceiling windows that occupy a large portion of the walls, Lee joked "I′ll have to make curtains."
Lunch Options Burrow Refectory: Fried Chicken Friday/lunch for purchase (11:00 am to 2:00 pm).         
Lynx Lair Pub: Meals and refreshments for purchase (11:30 am to 11:00 pm), located in the BCLC. 
Local restaurant recommendations are available at the Registration Table.
2:00 pm to 3:00 pm  Enhancing the Rhodes Experience: Internships, Fellowships, Study Abroad & more (Frazier Jelke A)
Want to learn about opportunities that are available for students to complement the educational experience at Rhodes? Staff will be discussing internships, fellowships, study abroad, research and volunteering both domestically and abroad. Staff will be available to answer questions.  
3:00 pm to 4:00 pm  Family and Faculty Mixer (West Village 1st Floor Community Room) 
We hope you join us for a great opportunity to meet and greet with faculty from all academic departments. Snacks will be provided. 
4:00 pm to 5:30 pm         Mertie W. Buckman and Buckman International Studies Initiative International Intern Presentations & Reception (Blount Auditorium, Buckman Hall)
Four International Studies majors were selected last spring as Mertie Buckman International Interns and three participated in the initial Buckman International Studies Initiative. Each spent nine weeks over the summer working as an intern in a foreign setting.  These Interns will share reflections and lessons from their various summer internship experiences from the Dominican Republic, Jordan, Poland, Morocco, Belgium, Argentina and China.  An informal reception with light refreshments will take place from 3:00-4:00 pm in the first floor lobby of Buckman Hall in advance of the presentations. 
4:00 PM Campus Tour (Admission Lobby, Burrow Hall)
4:30 pm to 6:30 pm Outdoor Picnic (Oak Alley -Between Buckman and Burrow Halls) 
Free picnic on Oak Alley.  The Rhodes Men’s and Women’s Chorus will perform live while you dine.  Vegan options will be available. Rain Location is the Refectory.

Men′s Lacrosse: Rhodes Black  vs. University of Miss (Crain Field) 

7:00 PM Kappa Delta All-Sing (Mallory Gymnasium, Bryan Campus Life Center)
(Doors Open at 6:30) Tickets for this high energy musical competition will be available for purchase at the door.  All proceeds will
go to Kappa Delta charities, Prevent Child Abuse America and Prevent Child Abuse Tennessee.

Saturday, September 28th

Burrow Refectory: Meals for purchase, Full Breakfast (8:00 am to 10:00 am), Continental Breakfast (10:00 am to 11:00 am), Lunch (11:00 am to 2:00 pm), Dinner (4:30 pm to 7:30 pm).

9:00 AM Fun Run/Walk to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (Starting location is between the Football Field and Tennis Courts)
Join friends and families for an approximately 1.25 mile walk/run inside the Rhodes Campus. There will be a requested donation of $10.00 at the event and all proceeds will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. You will sign up for the event at registration and receive a Rhodes t-shirt for your participation. Breakfast will be provided after the run/walk.

11:00 AM Rhodes Arboretum Tour (Middle Ground, Barret Library) 
Our Green Rhodes student members will lead walking-tours of over 50 varieties of trees around campus.  Tours will depart from Middle Ground.

4:00 PM 5th Annual Parent/Family Weekend ‘Sticks and ‘Socks Concert (Hardie Auditorium) 
Two a cappella ensembles, Lipstick on Your Collar (the female ensemble) and Woolsocks (the male ensemble) will perform for parents, families, and Rhodes students.  
4:00 pm to 6:00 pm GlobeMed Silent Art Auction Closure (Middle Ground, Barret Library)
Auction winners may pick up their pieces.  
5:00 PM Wine and Cheese Reception Honoring Rhodes’ Community Service Scholars (North Patio, Briggs Student Center - outside the Bookstore) 
Join us to celebrate the leadership of students in Rhodes’ nationally-recognized Community Service Programs.
6:00 PM Sketchy Comedy Group (Blount Auditorium, Buckman Hall)  
It’s time to see a performance by the only Rhodes College sketch comedy group. 
8:00 PM Contents Under Pressure (CUP) (McCoy Theatre) 
Enjoy a performance by Rhodes Improv Comedy Troupe.
8:00 pm to 10:00 pm Stargazing (Rhodes Tower Observatory and Deck - weather permitting)
Rhodes′ observatory will be open to parents and students.  Attendees may look through the giant telescope inside the observatory or through smaller ones on the deck.

 

Sunday, September 29th

11:00am Student-led Worship Service (Evergreen Presbyterian Church – across University Street) 
Calling all students, those of faith and of doubt, to join Evergreen Church in an ecumenical worship service led by the Evergreen Church Fellows.  McKenna Lewellen (’14) will lead the liturgy and Jenna Sullivan (’15) will  preach. Family and friends also welcome!
