BACCALAUREATE (3:30 p.m., May 10,  Bryan Campus Life Center)

Rhodes College traditionally holds a formal academic program called Baccalaureate on the Friday before Commencement.  Members of the graduating class are prominently featured on the program, with  readings from the scriptures of many cultures and religions. In lieu of a speaker at Commencement, Rhodes invites a distinguished guest to deliver the Baccalaureate address. This year the speaker will be Dr. Cary Fowler, Rhodes Class of 1971, who has been the executive director of the Global Crop Diversity Trust. Dubbed “The World’s Seed Banker,” Dr. Fowler has led a global effort to ensure the genetic diversity of the world’s food crops is preserved for future generations. Each senior who participates in the Commencement ceremony will receive six (6) tickets for Baccalaureate, which will be held in the 3-Court Gym of the Bryan Campus Life Center.  Those without tickets can watch the ceremony from the McCallum Ballroom or the Lynx Lair of the Bryan Campus Life Center. The ceremony will also be streamed live from the Rhodes home page.

COMMENCEMENT (9:30 a.m., May 11,  Fisher Garden)

Thanks to a newly re-landscaped  Fisher Garden, each senior who participates in the Commencement ceremony on May 11 will receive eight (8) tickets for seating in the Garden.
In case of rain, six (6) of these tickets can be used for seating in our rain site, the  3-Court Gym of the Bryan Campus Life Center.
Those without seating tickets can watch the ceremony in air-conditioned comfort at the following sites:
            Blount Auditorium of Buckman Hall
            The Lobby of Burrow Hall
The McCallum Ballroom and the Lynx Lair of the Bryan Campus Life Center
The ceremony will also be streamed live from the Rhodes home page.

Note: At the conclusion of the Commencement ceremony, a reception for graduates, their families and friends, will be held in Oak Alley. In case of rain, departmental receptions will be held at various locations around campus. Check the Commencement program for location sites.

In addition, Commencement can be viewed online live on Saturday morning May 11, 2013.
