Hughes Discusses Race and Country Music

Dr. Charles Hughes, Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the Memphis Center, has discussed recent controversies surrounding the relationship between race and country music. Earlier this month, he participated in a roundtable on African Americans and country music on HuffPost Live.

Hughes also was interviewed forĀ MusicTomes.com about a published essay on a similar subject.

At Rhodes, he has taught courses on “Elvis Presley and America” and “Collecting Memphis Histories.” He currently is teaching in the Rhodes Institute for Regional Studies.
