Publication Date: 2/20/2013
Alumna Regan Humphrey will have her honors research at Rhodes published in the Journal of Educational Research. She graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology in 2012. Her work titled “I’m Gonna Tell You About It’: Authorial Voice and Conventional Skills in Writing Assessment and Educational Practice” focuses on the relationship of children’s writing skills and their academic performance.
Dr. Marsha Walton, Humphrey’s mentor and honors advisor, encouraged her to find a journal to publish her findings. She did, and the writing curriculum “An Author′s Toolkit” she also developed will be published in the Tennessee Reading Teacher.
At Rhodes, Humphrey received the Department of Psychology’s E. Llewellyn Queener Award for Academic Excellence. She currently is a research assistant at Vanderbilt University where she is enrolled in its special education graduate program.
