Civil War Series Led By Professor Huebner Continues Through March

Rhodes History Professor Dr. Timothy Huebner is leading discussions on “Making Sense of the American Civil War” as part of a five-part series at the Benjamin Hooks Central Library. Free and open to the public, the sessions are held 6-7:30 p.m. in the Memphis Room of the library located at 3030 Poplar Avenue.

  • Feb. 21 - Making Sense of Shiloh (Reading: America’s War edited by Ed Ayers)
  • Mar. 14 - The Shape of War (Reading: Crossroads of Freedom by James McPhearson )
  • Mar. 28 - War and Freedom (Reading: America’s War edited by Ed Ayers )

Making Sense of the American Civil War is presented by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association, and coordinated locally by Humanities Tennessee.
