Students To Perform Holiday Concerts

Publication Date: 11/28/2012

It’s that time of the year when halls are filled with contemporary and traditional holiday music. Here are upcoming concerts by Rhodes ensembles.

By popular demand, Rhodes choral ensembles will give two identical performances at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. for the 26th Annual Christmas at St. Mary’s on Dec. 2. These 75-minute concerts feature a variety of seasonal choral music sung by the Rhodes Singers, Chamber Singers, Women’s Chorus and Men’s Chorus. Conductors are James Cornfoot, Mona Kreitner and William Skoog with Debbie Smith on the piano/organ. St. Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral is located at 700 Poplar Avenue.

On Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. on campus, the Brass Lynx directed by Joseph Montelione will present a concert of gospel, traditional and holiday classics. The sounds of brass and percussion will fill Hardie Auditorium in Palmer Hall beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Rhodes a cappella groups Woolsocks (men) and Lipstick on Your Collar (women) will include holiday music in their end-of-the-semester concert on Dec. 4. The performance begins at 8 p.m. in Hardie Hall.

All events are free and open to the public.
