Victorious Weekend for Lynx Teams, and Orgill Trophy Is Back At Rhodes With Win Against Sewanee

Congratulations to Lynx teams on their various wins this past weekend.
The football team earned a thrilling victory over its biggest rival, The University of the South (Sewanee), on Saturday with a score of 14-10. The Lynx brought back home the coveted Orgill Trophy and will conclude the season on Nov. 10 at Crain Field against Centre. Read more.
The field hockey team also defeated Sewanee 2-0 and finished 8-0 in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA), thus capturing the SAA regular season field hockey title. Rhodes will host the SAA tournament this weekend. As the #1 seed, the Lynx will play this Saturday at 11 a.m.
The women’s soccer team defeated Hendrix 4-3 and Lyon 3-2 to close the season with a 13-3-1 record. The Lynx finished in a three-way tie for first place in the SAA with a 6-1 record. Rhodes will play Berry this Friday in the first round of the SAA tournament, being hosted by Centre in Danville, Ky.
The cross-country teams made a good showing at the SAA Championships this past weekend with the women’s team finishing third and the men’s team finishing second (out of eight teams).
The volleyball team closed the regular season going 3-0 with wins over Bridgewater State, Centenary and Martin Methodist. The team will play in the SAA tournament this Friday at Berry College in Rome, Ga.
The men’s soccer team will play Berry College this Friday in the first round of the SAA tournament at Birmingham Southern.
The women’s and men’s swim/dive teams opened their seasons with strong efforts at Sewanee and Berry. The swim team will be competing this Sunday at 1 p.m. against Lindsey Wilson College at the Bartlett Recreation Center.
